Farmers Market! Sundays 8:30 -12:30 thru 11/1
Tony was born in Calabria, Italy, - Cittanova, to be exact! When Tony was a young boy his family moved to Verplanck, where many other Italian immigrants lived.
When he became of age, Tony joined the Mt. Carmel Society to help keep the traditions of his homeland alive. Tony loved to cook...and bake.
On October 31st of 1922, Tony was seen walking down 8th Street on his way to make
sausage and peppers for the card players at Mt. Carmel.
Tony had promised to bake his famous chocolate biscotti.
He never made it to Mt. Carmel Hall that night. He was never seen again!
His disappearance is a mystery that has haunted this town for nearly 100 years.
The locals say that if you look for him every Halloween, you can see Tony outside
Mt. Carmel Hall... and smell the sweet chocolate biscotti.
Halloween night from 6 - 8 PM, you are invited to cross Mt. Carmel Field in search of Tony,
if you dare!
Free sweets for children, and The Cafe will be open with delicious items to purchase.
8th Street at Highland Avenue in Verplanck. Next to the Verplanck Fire station.
